Loch Ard Survivors Wrecked.

After swimming out into the ocean, then dragging himself up a cliff face to find help for fellow shipwreck survivor, Eva Carmichael, Tom Pearce is a bit wrecked himself. Early this week, the usually calm waters of Mutton Bird island were turned upside down for a heavy mist covered the land, making it impossible for Captain Gibbs and his crew of 17 men to navigate. When the mist lifted, the captain found himself a mere two kilometers from a treacherous cliff face. Wittness Paul Aindon says "I was out for my morning run, (I run along the top of the cliff every morning) when I saw a massive shape coming towards the cliff. Panicked, I ran back, and watched from a distance in case the ship hit the cliff - It seemed so close - and I watched as the captain tried in vain to turn the ship around but he just couldn't. I felt so helpless." The ship crashed into Mutton Bird island and was sunk within 15 minutes. During that time, people desperately clambered for the life boats but there was only enough for six people. Remarkably, 18 year old Eva Carmichael was able to cling to some wreckage, and drift all the way to a small bay. She was too exhausted to climb ashore, but luckily for her, Tom Pearce, also 18 and another survivor of the wreck swam out to her, and brought her safely back in to shore. He the climbed the cliff to get help for young Eva, who lay on the beach exhausted. Tom found some kind people who helped Eva, but by this time they were both so exhausted that they had to be taken to the nearest hospital immeadiatly, where they now are both recovering. It has been found that Tom and Eva were the only survivors from the wreck. Once out of hospital, Tom is to be given medals and money for his bravery. It is rumored that Tom and Eva may move to Ireland to get married, but for now we can only hope a fast and speedy recovery for the young couple.

I made a bit of this up.....
