Two days ago, on the 1st of June, a ship crashed into a small island. The Loch Ard sank in just fifteen minutes leaving all but two survivors. 18 year old Eva Carmichael clung to some wreckage of the ship and floated to shore, between two great cliffs. Exhausted and ruined, 19 year old Tom Pierce was already ashore and bravely swam out to rescue her and brought her to safety on land.
Tom later traveled up the cliff face not noticing the steps already carved into the rock. In time Tom found people to help them and Eva began to overcome the shocking ordeal that had shaken her world. Tom received medals and money for his bravery in rescuing a defenceless Eva.
People all through the colony saw the situation as romantic and thought that Tom and Eva should fall in love and get married. People tried many things to bring the two together and tried telling them that god and fate had brought them together for a reason.
